The EHO (Environmental Health Officer) The responsibilities of the EHO are concerned with reducing risks and eliminating the dangers to human health associated with the living and working environment. EHOs are responsible for monitoring and ensuring the maintenance of standards of environmental and public health, including food safety, workplace health and safety, housing, noise, odour, industrial waste, pollution control and communicable diseases in accordance with the law. Although they have statutory powers with which to enforce the relevant regulations, the majority of their work involves advising and educating in order to implement public health policies.
